I know that the Distressor and 1176LN compressors have already been covered in some detail on this very forum.
Can anyone compare the 1176's All-Button Mode to the Distressor's British Mode emulation of this function? Specifically, I am wondering how faithfully the Distressor's British Mode produces the "reverse look-ahead" character of the 1176LN's All Button Mode. I recall reading an article that used "reverse look-ahead" to describe the delay on the attack of the initial transients of a snare compressed with All-Button Mode and thought it explained the sound and character well. I am about to purchase one of these and will be using it in my signal path before A/D conversion to a digital recording system. I have not yet played with a Distressor, but have some experience with the 1176LN. I have observed the recommendations of Bob and others on this subject, but have yet to read much on this particular aspect of the Distressor.
Many thanks.
