Gentle LAD, my ma was with Rosa Luxembourg at the barricades.
She would have resented your presupposition of oppressive, socially prescribed gender roles.
Funny, I heard your mom wouldn't be offended because she's a pig and forages at the bases of trees for grubs.

My mom cooked like shit.
I remember her putting a fucking hunk of hamburger in an oiled pan and calling it dinner.
However, my Mom IS a beacon of clear-headed thinking and reason. She makes me so sure of myself in dark times and can communicate like a MOTHERFUCkER!!
She also is a firm believer in Christian theology. It used to embarrass me but now I know it's the closest thing to "punk rock" my Mom will ever accept as truth. She refuses to acknowledge god as "He". God is always "God" to her. Strange. I appreciate her hard outside now. It's a part of me.
She's learned to cook better since I've left her house. I think my presence stressed her out.
I love this Lady. Such inspirado! Salut, Ann!!!!!
Beautiful in every way.

My mom is a great, great cook.
She rarely uses recipes and can improvise with anything on hand.
A great baker, too. She keeps 5 gallon buckets of wheat in the house to make homemade bread with--so good it's almost a sin to put butter on it.
Sadly, this skill wasn't genetic. I do cook a lot but burn often.
Salut, Jean Judith. My love for you is endless.

Not Crap, great.
Her husband's is better, though. I bet he could be a chef, if he wanted to. He doesn't want to.

My mom is a wretched cook. Ironically, she majored in "home economics" in college. No joke.
I still love her though.
Now my dad on the other hand smokes one hell of a brisket. He's also very skilled at killing animals and making good meals out of them. I have fond memories of me and him sitting on a creek in south Texas, cleaning doves we just shot, then grilling their bacon-wrapped breasts over an open fire.
Mom's cooking: CRAP
Dad's cooking: NOT CRAP

Mom's a good baker but good weekday meals were sometimes few and far between. Sunday dinner was always pretty good though.
I distinctly remember one day when I was around 14. My parents were nagging me about something during dinner and I had had enough so I just stormed up the stairs to my room. While I was still within an earshot, I yelled "Oh by the way mom, dinner sucked tonight!" Lucky for me we can laugh about it now.
