"You Forget It In People" features a song called "Anthems For A Seventeen-Year-Old Girl". I love this song.

Broken Social Scene, you have an atrocious band name.

Here is something that I thought was odd:

• On Ne Change Pas - Celine Dion
• Live at the Paramount - The Guess Who
• Hemispheres - Rush
• Gord's Gold, Vol. 2 - Gordon Lightfoot
• Still: Dance Mixes [Maxi Single] - Tamia"[/url]

Bradley R. Weissenberger, I love this song as well! I have no idea what she's saying... I suppose I could find the lyrics somewhere... I mean I know about the 'Park that car, dream about me' -- but the other stuff, I can't figure it out. What is this song about (if it is about anything)?

Used to be one of the rotten ones and he liked you for that.

Now you're all gone got your make-up on and you're not coming back.
Can't you come back?

Bleaching your teeth, smiling flash, talking trash, under your breath.

Bleaching your teeth, smiling flash, talking trash, under my window.

Park that car, drop that phone, sleep on the floor, dream about me.

Maybe this "ugly duck" narrator, she one time has this "ugly duck" friend. They are rotten "ugly ducks" together and they are friends!

But then maybe the "ugly duck" friend starts to become phony baloney popular kid to become popular. And then the "ugly duck" narrator and her "ugly duck" friend, they are not really friends anymore.

So sad.

This sad thing, to lose the "ugly duck" friend, it maybe breaks the heart of the "ugly duck" narrator who is to miss so much her old "ugly duck" friend.

I thought maybe one time this song was the "ugly duck" narrator to sing to herself as she is to grow and change and maybe is not to like the way she is to change. Also, I thought sometime this "ugly duck" friend is maybe older sister, crazee boyfriend or "sell out" band member.

Who is to know?

Maybe you can hear many different things in this song!

Like "Big Balls"!

I have not heard this new album.
It's on a major, right?
I find myself being very hesitant to buy any album that is released on a label that's affiliated with the RIAA.
I made an exception with the live Wilco and a couple things that ECM have released.

Anyway, to the point.
I liked that last record a good bit.

For some reason I do not know, the Major Label thing never happened for them Mr. Dragon. Though i had heard they were going to do it.

Still on Arts and Crafts, which i think is their own label, or one of their Umpteen members label.

So feel free to support them.

what were they going for with the mix on that new album?

were they recording while standing behind a jet engine?

i think it's the sound of a band desperately trying to recreate a fluke classic. they should have tried to do something completely new. i'll bet their next album is amazing though because they'll have stripped back the auxilary members and been through two years of people telling them how god-awful the mix on their last album was.
