I meant to say that you can't put a Tele neck on a Strat. ((FUCK)) The Tele has a flat neck end, the Strat a rounded. It throws the intonation off with that small amount of difference.

I've always wanted to play one of the 70's era Fender 5 string basses (tuned E A D G C). John Paul Jones is playing one above. 14 frets. The idea was "Why slide all the way up the neck when you can just add an extra string?" People didn't like it apparently. I'm left handed, and I doubt they ever made a lefty... I love playing a G and C together... that's one of the reasons I'm probably keeping a really expensive bass I got for cheap with plans to resell it.

Those are the craziest basses... the body is extra long and the neck is extra short and the combination makes for a totally odd looking/playing bass. They had one at that horrid vintage place on Clark once where I got to play it. I also bid on one once on Ebay... it was actually being sold by the bass player from Cinderella... HOT! I did not win it.

And yeah, it is an older 5 string bass so it does not have that modern low B thing... just a high C which is ok.

as people have said - it wouldn't intonate, because the 12th fret wouldn't be exactly halfway between the bridge and the nut any longer.

(there is a way of putting a tele neck on a strat by the way, just sand down the edges - only really works when you've got one of those 22 fret necks with an overhang though.)
