The most brutal-crazy fuzz box-distortion?

I played a prescription electronics experience pedal for over two years and I don't have much to say about it. Perhaps it just wasn't "for me," but I would not go out and recommend it as a fuzz box.

The only one I own, at the moment, is a Maestro Fuzztain... but that's in Chicago, Jet's fixing it in her shop (of horrors... ie her cats).

I've played with Big Muff's, zvex, fender blender, some kind of homemade Rat pedal with a boost (vintage schematics?), and a bunch of others... As far as fuzz goes it's pretty much up in the air, depending on what kind of sound you're looking to dial in and how much sizzle you want the thing to make.

some company made a big yellow thing called a "peach fuzz" that sounded alright.

i forgot what question you asked and instead slipped into solipsism mode.

I've been rockin' my MXR distortion plus, as my main distortion, and for craziness, I hit the Big Muff, later in the path. That way the MXR is boosting the muff. I like running my SD-1 into my distortions too, it gets a good hot sound, but there is a bass drop, that makes it annoying. Maybe I should do a mod to it. anyways, multiple distortions at once is always pretty insane

I've been playing with that a bit here and there, but I sometimes run into problems when I have multiple distortions on at once, they sort of cancel each other out in a way.. like the note starts to sorta clip out. Does that make sense? I suppose it's just a case of overload most of the time, but I'm always tempted to push it anyway.

When you say "later" in the pedal chain, do you mean closer to the amp in the chain, or closer to the source (guitar)?

Sounds like you could benefit from checking out the zvex Machine.

by later, I mean closer to the amp.
to me the signal chain starts with the guitar and ends with the amp.
I know what you mean with the overload. Sometimes you have to find a compromise between the gain of each pedal. Often time you can keep the gain quite low on the pedal that comes earlier in the chain, but boost the volume as much as you can and it'll drive the subsequent pedal, much like when people drive their amps with boosts. Keeping the gain low and volume high will help retain some clarity, although the reaction is dependant on how the pedal breaks up too. Sometimes I like to set my Boss HM-2 to minimum distortion, and then put a 25 Db clean boost into it. It becomes fully distorted because it's being overloaded, but it loses clarity and sounds super farty and fuzzy, It's a fun sound ha.
