Yo, so I was there and yes it was DJ Scotch Egg and was it Birds of Paradise first? I liked their keyboard player, if they were comprised of 10 of their keyboard players they would have been great. Mr Scotch Egg brought us the mentalist Rotterdam Gameboy jamz. Melt Banana were FUCKING INCREDIBLE. How come neither the singer nor the bass player get mentioned in those 'amazing women in rock' discussions? Completely rock solid. I even brought a badge, and I've not done that for a while.

saw them on tuesday cause i was doing some vocal impov with the opening band.

there was this guy called justice yeldham supporting who essentially cut his face up licking a contact mic'd piece of glass until he was bleeding so much he had to stop.

it was the best thing i've ever seen,

Typical. No-one ever plays here, so I don't buy a ticket thinking that I'll be able to get in. Their gig here on Sunday is now sold out. So while the one amazing and much looked forward to gig is going ahead on Sunday, I'll be scratching my arse and wondering what the fuck to do with myself.

BASTARD!!!!!!!!!!!!

they weren't happy to be playing second fiddle to a guy with a gameboy, but the management weren't budging apparently.

my ears are truly fucked today. how does the guitar player... um... make his guitar... err... do that... noises?

i can't string a proper sentence together today either.

I woke up today feeling unable to hear properly out my right ear. I swore to myself after going to see Wolf Eyes that I'd be sensible and wear earplugs. Stupidstupidstupid.

I was expecting more from DJ Scotch Egg. The Gameboy thing gets very boring very quickly. Who the fuck was that stoner prancing around beside him?!

Melt Banana were amazing. I made the mistake of standing at the front to get a good view - the minute they started playing someone had stamped on my feet and knocked off my glasses.

Mr Food, I missed your friend's band. What do they sound like? In a weird six-degrees-of-separation way my friend got a message from someone she knows telling her his friend's band were supporting too!

Chapter Two, you need to leave the dingy recesses of Cleveland and move to the Big Cit-ay (TM). No one goes to Cleveland because they're afraid someone might steal their face or punch them in the car.

I know. I have to be here for the next year and a half at least. I think what might be an idea is if I put some gigs on myself and see if I can get any of yous guys to come and play, with the guarantee that you will find drugs and whores cheaper nowhere on this side of asia.

I can't believe there is a Cleveland in Great Britain. Do you have an armpit in Britain as well? We have New Jersey.

I thought they sounded like it was 1988 at ULU all over again - Prong, Godflesh etc etc, but not in a way I'd miss if I never saw them again. Sorry. The keyboard player was the best thing about them, he looked like he was really into it. There was a lot of hair on stage, but not a lot of, I don't know.... I think they should listen to Noxagt more, and then come back to us.

I e-mailed the promoters and said I didn't have the means to book a ticket online and they kindly put me on the paying guest list. You could try that. I didnt need it in the end though because most people were paying on the door. And this is Birmingham where you'd expect it to sell out.
