n/c

I just watched "Destiny Rules" - a DVD documentary about the making of "Say You Will"

Allegedly, Lindsey wanted to make a more "non-commercial" double CD, and MIck was reminding him that Fleetwood Mac is a commercial band and they all need $$$. (all Mick's Rumours money went up his nose in the 80s - he lost everything) So Lindsey offers this comparison:

"It's like in film - what's that guys name -Todd Solantz. He's got that movie out now, Storytelling. Here's a guy who probobly lives in a two-bedroom apartment in Pacoima. He's not gonna make any money off of that, but he's adding something to cinema - something Ridley Scott is NOT doing!"

Todd Solandz!

Mick then reminds Lindsey that he doesn't live in a two bedroom in Pacoima, he's building a new house, has two kids, etc.

Lindsey ends up giving up a huge cut of his publishing for more artistic control - and they end up putting out a commercial single CD anyway.

Which I guess is part of the reason tickets to that tour cost $250

$250 concert tickets = crap

In particular, I despise Mick Fleetwood's drum sound. I fucking hate it. Why not just mike some fucking sheetrock and phonebooks, you fucking guitar player? Anyone that references his drum sound as a standard for anything but total dog shit is a doofus. That drum sound fucked music forever. Fuck you. FUCK YOU.

Have I said crap? CRAP.

Hi, doofus here. That kick drum sound on Rumours is stellar. Granted, like Steely Dan's aja, the drums have that overproduced smooth jazz sound to them, there is still something i quite like about it.

Kinda crappy but not so bad.

I WILL say this......

When on tour and loading into a shitty bar in some shitty town it's always a pleasure to hear Fleetwood Mac playing while loading in. (Granted, this is usually well before the paying customers show up).

I cannot stand it when I've been riding in a van for 8 hours and show up to "Dirtbag the soundman" blasting the new System of a Down (or something similar).

There's a special breed of soundman that pumps the Mac. Salut, Fleetwood Soundman!![/i]

It's so refreshing to see the Electrical folks praising Fleetwood Mac. Not Crap.

By the way, does anyone know if any published exposes on this band? Also, I wonder if Zwan would have turned out like the Mac had they not self-destructed so prematurely. Had they had one more lady-rocker in the band...

If they had...

Paz Lenchantin=Stevie Nicks (gypsy trappings)
Matt Sweeney=Lindsey Buckingham (guitar solos, coke)
Dave Pajo=John McVie (silent inscrutability)
Jimmy Chamberlain=Mick Fleetwood (plays drums)

But that means Billy Corgan=Christine McVie, and since Christine McVie is my favorite member of Fleetwood Mac, obviously this analogy doesn't hold up.

Maybe Corgan should be Mick Fleetwood as depicted in the album cover reproduced above, i.e., balls no longer attached.

Yeah, that's better. Zwan doesn't deserve a Christine McVie.
