tmidgett wrote:'the song is over,' she is only weak spot on this record. and she is a long spot. but the rest, she is pure fucking solid gold.

When I was younger, my brothers and I would make a game of listening to the first twenty seconds of that song, and as soon as Pete Townshend sang the opening line we would skip to the next song! Like, as soon as he reached the end of that line, the song would actually BE over!

It was funny the first time and even funnier the twentieth.

These are the best in my book:

Meaty Beaty Big & Bouncy - for the best early stuff
Who's Next
Quadrophenia
Who By Numbers
Who Are You

That's all I need!

Sell Out!

Sell Out!

Sell Out!

I can't believe it wasn't mentioned by more than one person.

It's one of my favorite records of all time. Easily my favorite Who record.

You're right. This is a very good record. I dunno about "great." That whole commercial radio concept doesn't really do it for me. But the feedback intro in "Armenia in the Sky" is easily one of The Who's finest moments. Plus "I Can See for Miles" and "Tatoo."

I still have a hard time getting into this band.

If you like all the records previously mentioned also check out the Kids Are Alright soundtrack and movie and the Odds and Sods album.
If you can find them Who's Missing and Two's Missing albums have good stuff too.

If you like the Who you might also like The Small Faces, The Yardbirds, The Action, The Creation, The Smoke, The Move, The Pretty Things, and The Birds (with Ron Wood).

Also you MUST listen to Live at Leeds.
And if you like Tommy, the double cd release of "...Leeds" has the whole concert, which included a really good live performance of Tommy in it's entirety, and is more rocking than the regular album.

Cheers.

Newcleus was more punk than the Who ever were.

"Jam On Revenge" is way fiercer than "My Generation."

Wikkie wikkie, motherfucker.

Screw all that.
Get yourself a record by DJ Beat Slam.
Or better yet, there's this dude named MC Fake Teeth that is totally closer to Pete Townsend in spirit and musical approach than The Who were.
And he doesn't need Townsend's help to be so.

No, do not listen to what these bitches say.

Just get Paul Weller's unreleased House album, (availiable on the Style Council box set), and that should suffice.
