i just ordered some ceramic michigans for use w/a v4

i think i might try them in a 2x12 cab w/partially open back

i need a lot of low end--six-string bass, half bass/half baritone type of playing

you like the michigans? i'm a big fan of weber for guitar. i don't want speaker breakup, but very highly-rated speakers (like bass speakers) are a bit harsh for my purposes.

Dude, they'd be PERFECT for you and yer 'twanger, I would think. We've played bass through our amps/cabs and everything sounds great. I play tuned A(low)A(norm)DGBE in my other project, and the lows are very tight and audible. There is _no_ speaker breakup. Hope you like them!

i'm looking for a hiwatt custom 50 if anyone knows anyone who wants to part with one or knows where to find one relatively inexpensively (i'm unemployed, remember?)

Groove Tubes Trio Pre-amp > '63 Fender Tremolux head > Tremolux cab with homemade baffle w/1x10 Celestion & 1 x 12 EVM > Peavey Classic 50 2x12 combo (the Tweed one but loaded with JBL's), the pre-amp section on the Peavey is one of the worst I have ever heard but I like the EL84 output stage so the pre-amp gets bypassed.
Just got rid of a 1968 Marshall Superlead coz it was shit.

60's YBA-1A -> Traynor 6x10" cab (stock speakers)
70's YBA-1A -> Kustom 2x12" cab (Celestion G12T-75's)

The 60's YBA-1A recently (a couple months ago) replaced the Traynor TS100 that had only shortly before that replaced the Laney VC30 as the other half of my guitar amp rig. The VC30 will be coming to my apartment shortly for home rockin. The Danelectro Dirty 30 will go back to being a paperweight. ;)

I have an assload of different amps to fill different roles

-30W : Danelectro Dirty 30 (garbage-picked, works fine)
15W : '65 Ampeg Reverberocket R-12-R-B (garbage picked, is fussy)
30W : Laney VC30
50W : YBA-1
80W : YBA-1A
120W : Ampeg V4; TS100 (solid state)
160W : YBA-3
300+ : YBA-3A; MonoBlockII (solid state)

Bass, right now, is the YBA-3A @2 ohms into an SVT 4x10" cab and an EV 2x15" cab. I'm rather digging it! Hopefully the forthcoming cap job leaves it sounding as good or better.
