Yes we do. Then I can enjoy heavy music without some sweaty soapdodger headbutting me for fun.

Saw a metal band last night. The guitarist threw himself off the stage into a guy in the audience and in the process pulled his Marshall head off the cab and smashed it on the floor and drenched some girl in beer. Silly cunt.

The night before I saw an indie/metal band and they played good music and no one felt the need to harm neither people nor equipment.

Maybe you guys do, but I fuckin' don't.

I'm sure part of it has to do with the local scene here. The past few years have brought about several of these ironic metal acts, none of which have been very good.

It's not funny and it's not "cool".

No more ironic metal.

I'm not sure if the stuff about Pajo leaving is true; from his website it seems like he was really into what they're doing. I know he bailed out of doing the Louisville Burn to Shine at the last minute because of a family crisis, and hasn't posted on his Blog since, so something's up but I doubt he's left the band.

i am in the anti-'metal by non-metal dudes' camp

it's too often imprecise, diluted by self-consciousness, and generally half-assed in a way that i do not enjoy

it takes commitment to play metal/hard rock well. it requires a real work ethic, at least at first. most people just are not obsessive enough about it to pull it off.

people can convert, however....greg anderson (sunn, goatsnake, owns southern lord) is a good example of someone who came to metal through hardcore and 70s rock and has been flying the flag for many years now. he was always a sabbath fan and so forth, but he didn't really settle down in the metal milieu until the mid-90s.

Do we even know for sure that Dead Child is a metal band?

The website says nothing.

The band members aren't exactly metal guys (as has been discussed above).

The pentagrams on the website, and the mocking-metal band name could be simply for fun.

I'm not trying to argue that they are or aren't, I'm just wondering if anyone has heard them, or saw the few shows they did in New York.

How do you know?

Look up Maurice, find out what Dave pajo was doing before slint, fools.

It's somewhat understandable that the only frame of reference most of you people have is slint/papa m, or crain....but like connor pointed out, you all obviously dont know anything about these guys. They all were playing metal before "indie rock" existed.
