I just replaced the traditional saddles on my 60's R.I. Telecaster with Fender brass saddles and man!, incredible.
I loved the guitar before, but have even more of a thing for it now. $20 upgrade and quite a big sonic improvement. Tightened up the lows a little bit more and took the slight "icepick" sound and made it a much more fluid "glassy", rounded tele sound. Awesome.
One of the saddles had a factory defect, so I had to send it back (allparts) but the other two are still installed and I can't wait to get the third one again... hoping it will show up today!
Just wanted to bring this up as sometimes people are looking to do something to get that little bit extra out and for $20, I couldn't ask for more plus I always have the originals as a back up, or if I wanted the other sound back. No modification needed.
Hope you get your guitar back to the way you want it. There's nothing worse.

*edit* just realized you have an original 1967 tele... thought you were talking about a reissue. I assume then yours has the brass saddles.?
