Has anyone seen Run Ronnie Run or Melvin Goes to Dinner? I've been looking at them at the rental shop but have not had a first hand review to aid me in completing the rent.
Melvin Goes to Dinner is really good- the extras are also funny, like the 'frank international film festival' with Fred Armisen
I'd concede to parts of Mr. Weissenberger's comment-but you can't beat the episode with the two cute little girls-- 'you're never going to walk again!'

The Satanica (I think that was the band) skit where they visit their fan in the hospital thats been burned by acid. That's fuckin hilarious.
And the Falousa episode... "Had too many of Mr. Graham's Crackers?"
And Druggachusetts
I never though Ronnie Dobbs was very funny.
Run Ronnie Run was pretty good though.
David Cross has weird nipples.

I don't know when season 4 comes out on DVD, but it's hysterical. I am sad to see that Mr. Brad still doesn't like the Mr. Show, as much of it he would appreciate. But these is the true, he no like, is okay. One more try? No? Okay.
Favorite skit ever: The Ken Doral Show. Brilliant. It's a pre-taped call in show and no matter how many times you watch it, it's fantastic. Very smart comedy. I believe it's part of the Titanica episode, which also has "We're Going Up My Mom's Ass". Arguably the best episode of all.
Run Ronnie Run is crap I guess. I was dissappointed. Melvin Goes to Dinner was very well done - Michael Bliden is a great writer, in my opinion. Bob's directing isn't terrible either.

NOT CRAP
I want to see "Rap-The Musical" on stage at an opera house.
I cried with much laughter. Girl in a wheelchair singing about being a gang of one-priceless...er....I mean crapless

Bob and David in a barn, next to an elderly blackman....
*roughly brings back memory of mr show viewing*
"....and I'd like to have the attention of all black folks. We're all aware of the plight of slavery this country imposed on your ancestors. But did you know Abe Lincoln - A WHITE MAN - freed you from slavery? so on that note we say YOU'RE WELCOME..." hence forth a song continues to play.....
Seriously. I barely even remeber it correctly. And it's still one of the funniest things ever.

Mr. Show is miles and miles away from the crap-osphere. At its worst, the show was funnier and smarter than just about anything I've ever seen on TV. It was also formally inventive, it got all the details right, and it was never content to merely put sketches on one after another. The show affected me the way my favorite music has--it articulated a sensibility that I could say I completely identified with.
Some favorite moments, off the top of my head:
"The Underground Tape Railroad" ("Dick Clark Lights Fart," "Famous Model Fistfuck," etc.)
"Wyked Scepter" (probably their most flat-out funny moment)
"Recruiters" (about increasingly desperate college basketball recruiters--it was funny and sad, a rare trick)
The "Superstar Machine" montage (showing in 15 seconds the dumb things that happen to a hit song)
"The Joke: The Musical"
Globo-Chem Ads ("'Fuck, this little motherfucker's tasty!' 'Told your fuckin' ass!'")
"Indomitable Spirit" ("I'm Fran, and I'm a *woman*!, "Yes, you're handicap is that you're a shitty drummer!")
"Young People and Their Companions"
Swoosh, the Brit-pop band
"Culture Hunt" (the MTV reality show where people search for a hidden beanbag in places like Anne Frank's house)
"The Story of the Story of the Story of Everest"
"The Sad Song of the Year Award" (their meanest funny moment--making fun of Eric Clapton for writing a song about his dead kid)
"The Fad Three"
Okay, enough fan-boy behavior for now...
