No, you're not supposed to believe it's live. It's a recording. He's such a precise shredsmith, that he can play it exactly the same way, note for note, on any number of different guitars.
Don't forget, this is the guy that played in Nitro, where he used the 4-neck guitar, and played 2 necks at a time, one with each hand. This guy is mental!
I think this sorta stuff is quite cool, actually. Yeah, it's cheesy as hell. But there's still something literally amazing about seeing a person move their fingers that quickly, and to know that they are able to think fast enough not only to know what's coming, but to keep track of when they're gonna make which face and all that, too. I can't do anything like that, even though I spent a good year or so trying to learn how to. The best I was ever able to do was play half-assed versions of Marty Friedman's solos in the song Hangar 18.
