Vintage Vox AC30, double penetration, crank gain/treble before you get there, Rat if I must, to the only number of watts you'll ever need.
Clean or dirty, it's still like gleaming, heavy pearls rolling off the bottom of a beautiful, Hipgnosis-album-sleeve rock lady.
They are the only amps in the world. No others exist.

I love my fender twin 135w silverface.
Sometimes I pull two power tubes so I can really crank it. Tonight, I will try to bridge the reverb i/o on the thing, as I hear it will make for another preamp (gain) stage.
I sold one once to pay for college. I missed the bastard, really. I even missed looking at it.

I always figured the Kustom tuck and roll amps were the sound of Chooglin'. But all I learned of the Choogle I learned from Fogerty.
We gonna choogle tonight.

i second the bassman
I third (or fourth) the bassman. My first amp was an older silverface Bassman.
It couldn't take it.
>POOF!<
The mid/late '70's Marshall JMP amps are pretty much Bassman's, just beefed up.
what are your favorites?
CHUNK!: 6550 loaded 50 watt Marshall JMP MK II Master Volume / w/ 4-25 watt greenbacks
KER-CHUNK: 30 watt Hi Watt Master Volume /w/ 4-25 watt greenbacks
K-GERG!: All tube 50 watt EARTH head /w/ 4-25 watt greenbacks

They're beefed up tweed bassman circuits. The Blackface/Silverface bassman amps and the tweed bassman amps are drastically different.
Cheers!

Yeah, I'd love a tweedy Bassman just to have in my living room or something.
Maybe I could buy it for a first anniversary present. "Hon? Didn't you say you wanted a tweed Bassman amp for our anniversary? I thought that's what I heard you say..."
hmmmm.

That would be a loud living room.
For a while, when I wasn't playing guitar with anyone, I had my Blackface Fender amp just acting as a lamp stand in my living room. It was the coolest looking lamp stand.

At this very moment I have before me a friend's 1964 Blackface Princeton Reverb.
First true blackface I've ever encountered. Absolutely gorgeous sound.
I'd recommend it if they weren't so fucking over-priced.
Fuck it. I'll recommend one anyway.

I really like Allen Amps. allenamps.com
Kits and pre-built amps. They're not cheap, but they're less than a vintage Blackface, and they sound great. An old room mate had one.
Cheers!
