While we are on the topic of Ron Santo. Lets here some Santo stories...

One from this season:

Santo was in the locker room and stopped to give Fukudome some pointers. Fukudome only responded, a la Mr. Baseball with, "Whatever you say Chief" during the entire exchange. Fukudome might not have understood Santo or he was just fucking with him outright. Either way, well played.

Ok, on to the real Santo stories....... Does anyone have any good stories of Ron Santo either now or from when he was younger. There have to be more than a few good ones as he was, from what I hear, an arrogant prick when he was younger.

For a minute I wondered why this wasn't bumped until three days after he died, and then I remembered I was thinking of Skip Caray.

Here's a Ron Santo quote from a game about a week ago. It's approaches a Zen riddle.

Referring to the St. Louis Cardinals, he says, "What they really need to get - and they never will, unless it's a starter - is a closer."

At least he made it to the end of the sentence, a feat he rarely can manage to achieve.
