I hurt all over.
Nothing in me broken. Bike still works except right side foot peg busted off.
On the plus side, some wicked cool scars.

Well there are two types of motorcycle riders: those that have gone down, and those that are going to go down....

So look at the bright side; statistically you are good for another 6.3 years (or something like that).

Assuming you live here in the Midwest, we face seasonal riding where drivers are _not_ acclimated to motorcyclists being on the road yet. Unfortunate.

David

when my brother was a kid, he had his palm read by a supposed fortune teller at a schoolwide haunted house type thing, and he was told by the palm reader/forune teller lady that he would die in a motorcycle accident. she said it very matter-of-factly, not only as if it made perfect sense, but also as if a third grader wouldn't mind hearing how he exactly he'd meet his maker.

anyway, glad to hear you're all right. be careful, etc.

I think I had some gloves on. Other than that I was just wearing Jeans and a army type shirt. Small hole in pants, a scuff on the shirt. I have a leather jacket that I wear on occasion.

I'm not going to tell you what to do or what to wear. I personally always have a jacket and gloves and a helmet on. I live in a city and have to contend with a lot of traffic sometimes. I've shredded gloves in a fall before and a good leather is good for 100 feet or so of sliding on the pavement before the road scrapes off your skin.

Ok I will tell you what to wear. Wear gloves, jacket, long pants and a full faced hlemet every time. Who cares how it looks? You'll look better with the gear on then you'll look in a hospital bed or coffin. In the summer there's vented and perforated jackets and gloves you can wear. Helmets will have vent systems too.

Seriously, people don't ride bikes to be safe but there is plenty you can do to minimize damage and risks. Also check out David Hough's "Proficient Motorcycling" or take an MSF course. If you ride within your limits, stay aware and stay defensive, and never assume drivers can see you or will stop themselves, you'll be riding for a long time.
it's not the length, it's the gersch
