In hindsight, I changed the "for" to "from" because it gives the band more direction, which they surely need.

Their first record was a great Built To Spill rip-off and it arrived around the time BTS was starting,in my opinion, to go south. NOT CRAP for the first record.

i went through a death cab phase about five years ago, then ignored them for a few years, and then saw them recently and it had all the bland sweetness of a California strawberry in November. For their credit the sound at the show was really bad, but Ialso found the softie aesthetic not very endearing at all.

four years ago, through "we have the facts...": not crap.
now: pretty close to crap, even without hearing the newer records. it seems their hearts are in other projects.

i never thought they were even close to being as good as Built to Spill, but i don't think they really sound like BTS anyway. There are other west coast bands that do the sweet and/or electro-tinted pop thing better, i.e. Grandaddy.

This is a band like so many others, where the first hit is the sweetest, and you spend every subsequent experience chasing that feel.

BTW, not a junkie. This is just my new modern music phenom cliche.

My friend lent me that Postal Service alb and was expecting whiny emo electronic pop pap, but it's actually ok. 'Such Great Heights' is a good song

Not that this might affect your opinion, but I just saw a set of indie capsules written by DCFC's Ben Gibbard in The New York Times(?) Well good for him... um, I guess.
