I voted not crap, then realized I was thinking of the band No Trend, who are/were awesome.

Negative Trend is good as well. So still not crap.

Negative Trend was a great great band, but No Trend approaches the line for my favorite band ever. If anyone is reading this, they should go out and get a No Trend album as soon as they can.

I was thinking about Negative Trend today... I like them a lot (see above), but the band does miss someone like Bruce Loose... that's why in the end I'd say they sound less "complete" than Flipper.

no trend were great!
"tritonian nash polyester vegas complex" is an amazing album.
often overlooked and dismissed, i've found.
its really too bad.

i started a thread a long time ago regarding them, not too much action.
i want their final album 'more' released on some label in baltimore.
i'm sure its pretty out there, i hear theres a rock opera of sorts.

when you say less complete then flipper are you regarding the fact that flipper has a 'two personality' approach to lyrical usage? i always thought that was fantastic since Bruce and Will had a good bit of difference in their writing, i just don't think negative trend is less complete because they didn't have that to them.

Craig Gray wrote a lot of the lyrics in negative trend as well i believe.
i actually think 'black and red' is his creation.

I think that is what I mean. Negative Trend were great, but Flipper had the double edge of both Shatter and Bruce types of songs, making the albums they did together consistently exciting. I just wonder what Negative Trend would've sounded like after 3 or 4 albums.
And flipper never did recover after Shatter's death...
