The vocals had a real nice presence.
Perhaps you need to get one of those vintage set ups used in old photography studios to keep the head steady and in the same position.
two close mics used on main vocals - anybody doing this?
12i do this from time to time and have found using a LD tube condensor with a old hand held crystal mic can work great for a very close intimate sound, recorded on separate tracks. i do get the capsules as close as possible, though the mics track very differently. in the past with a certain voice, i did need to use a de-esser and a little compression. i cannot believe the amount of tonal variations i could get from experimenting with channel volumes and ratio to each other. those crystal mics are really useful for the mumbling type...
