Trans Am.
Grandaddy, but that may be too "mushy."
EDIT: Re: Trans Am. Sorry, rayj. You typed it first.
Mixing synthesizers and guitars - who does it HARD and well?
12When I saw this topic, I first thought of Pere Ubu's The Modern Dance and Terminal Tower. I see other people have name-checked Ubu, but if you're not familiar, these are good places to start.
What about Brainiac?

14Early Devo...check out "Hardcore Devo, Vol.1, '74-'77."
There are crispy fries waiting to come out of your oven: you just have to make them and put them there.

15Devo for sure. Brainiac. Suicide. Six Finger.
And: I/we did a few years ago.

A cover of John Carpenter's theme from Escape From New York
I played the bass and keys and one of the guitar tracks and did the recording on a 16-bit PC system called Session 8...this was proably the second or third track I ever enginered and mixed myself.
It's the hidden track on the EP I put out in 2003
It's no "Requiem" but I think it fits the bill re: the grr of guitar and the bwow of synth.

17Against my will, at a point I realized that one of my favorite ever bands, Unwound, uses synthesizers all over some of their songs that I really love. I had somehow listened to so many of their songs dozens of times without even realizing how many of them were smattered with synths. I love that, actually. That the synths are very much there, and contribute critical elements of the songs, and I was still able to listen to them 50 times before I realized just how much synth stuff they were even doing.
Definitely gonna agree with the Brainiac, too. And Devo, duh.
