LOL. "man, that fucking hotdog guy was a dick! i hate this team!"

that's not what you had in mind, is it?

That's taking the argument to an unreasonable extreme.

Good food, drink and souvenir selections sold at relatively reasonable prices by cheerful vendors certainly adds to a positive professional sports entertainment experience.

A bad experience in this area detracts from the experience and the franchise.

That seems pretty self-apparent to me.

I'd gladly attend a game and sit next to the stereotypical Green Bay Packers (fan).

what's your problem with detroit bradley? and how the fuck could anyone think it's worse than green bay for chist's sake? i don't know if you've ever been to green bay, but it's one of the most mundane shitholes in the fucking country. and in my experience, packers fans are WAY more annoying than red wings fans. i think it's because they're mostly obese, over-reproducing, minivan with green and gold licence plates driving, triple extra large sweatshirt wearing, wal-mart shoppers with particle board cupboards, not because that's what came with their house, but because they picked them out. it disgusts me.

Brad,

I LOVE how you have posted your reply as ME!!!

I couldn't figure out how you didn't respond to my message, and then I realized that you butchered my post (by accident I'm sure, no sarcasm intended) and made it your reply. Witness the power of the moderator.

Funny stuff.

You're crazy if you think that the Stanley Cup Playoffs are a crapshoot. Every series is a best of seven series. The playoffs last for almost 2 months.

Brad, I don't know what they are putting in the water there in Idaho, but you might want to switch to something imported in a bottle before it's too late.

Since you are a person from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (i.e., "the U.P."), I trust your expertise in regard to all of the unfortunate fashion and lifestyle choices listed above.

Leaving aside all minvan/Wal-Mart references, Green Bay Packers fans are the most knowledgeable, loyal and accommodating sports fans whom I have ever met. I think that they are great.

On the other hand, I've met many Red Wings fans. They have a creepy sense of entitlement when it comes to their team, and they act as if they have been wrongfully denied when their teams loses. From a personal standpoint, I've generally found them to be politically conservative people of dubious intelligence.

But that's just me talking.

russ wrote:Hell, the Red Wings, like you mentioned, lost to the Sharks last year.

They lost to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. In any event, playoffs are total crap shoots. In hockey, a hot goaltender can carry a team to the Cup. Giguere nearly did that for Anaheim last year.

russ wrote:Team salary means much less in hockey than it does in say, baseball.

Horseshit. Ask the Pittsburgh fans. Or ask any Canadian team. I'd say baseball, as a game of specific skill sets, is much less tied to salary than hockey, which is a game of general athleticism. Since Detroit can generally buy the best athletes, they generally experience the greatest success.

russ wrote:Dude, you must not have very much fun watching sports. Sports are fun to watch because you don't have to think so hard in order to participate.

If sports were for dullards, then I would have no interest. And I certainly wouldn't waste time posting to an Internet forum to discuss them. If sports were about simple-minded "hooray! we win!" or "boo! we lose", I'd wouldn't bother with the intellectual, emotional or financial investment that it takes to be a fan. As it stands, sports are a blast for me.

Except when the Sox lose.

The Yankees of hockey would have to be the New York Rangers.

The best part, though, is that the Rangers still lick sack.

I will salute the Wings only because they are a hundred years old (besides Datsyuk and Zetteberg), and they will have purple faces and no teeth even after they don't win the cup this year.

Brett Hull gets no salute. He can go suck a dong.

AH!! Brad, in trying to fix my/your post, you've deleted some parts of my orginal post, leaving me with only the parts that you quoted from my original post.

Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter. The Red Wings are still the best hockey team, the Cubs are still the best baseball team, and Pat and Ron are still the best radio team.

Sir Brad... (why I oughtta.... heck, you don't wanna know...) Sports: Ever played before?

Whoever else claims that the Wings suck, that the playoffs are a so-called “crap shoot”, and whatever additional bullshit your last couple of posts bitched about:

Did you ever play a sport in your life, Brad? If so, you would stop your pansy-ass bitching and just understand - come to realize - that a group of athletes like the Wings are RARE.

A paycheck wont stop a puck. It'll just buy you a great massage after you do; will buy ya top o' the line free weights... and an Escalade.

This Red Wing argument is a no-win situation when you're trying to argue anything other than they are some of the best athletes in the world. They are the ONLY NHL team that carries more than 5 or 6 or 7 future Hall of Fame athletes.

They are athletes that carry such longevity when it comes to a 'one-team' sports career. “Statistically”, they are the best, and most respected. - Need I remind you of some of that proof: Steve Yzerman, Brett Hull, Brendan Shanahan, Nicklas Lidstrom, Derian Hatcher, and Chris Chelios... There is NOT another NHL team built like it. If you ask any pro-athlete, hockey player which team he'd cream his pants to play for - it's the Red Wings.

And it's due to the simple fact that they are in-sync with each other.

Brad – if you ever played sports in your life – that's speaking for 'any' athlete/former-athlete – you'd know that when you are on the field, court, or rink, with the best... you learn from them and turn in something comparable. That's common sense to an athlete. If you work with something less or the same, you'll remain that way as well.

On that note – Every team that plays against the Wings – always puts in a FULL strength game, due the knowledge that it's the Detroit Red Wings. Knowingly, the intensity of how the Wings play their game, records they hold, and being the best NHL team. Therefore, the Wings have that solidified, top-notch, strongest-played competition at every game. Every game is played full-strength.

WHAT THE FUCK – how can you say that you DONT love the playoffs? Its “the most” exciting and entertaining part of the hockey season. 7 to 28 hardcore, aggressive, intense, malicious and thrilling games.

Financially... talking salaries- refer to the Detroit Red Wing fans, please. The Wings have sold out nearly EVERY game for the past 12 years, if not all of them. (Kudos to Mike Illich, Owner of Wings and Tigers and well-liked/respected in Detroit.) I would say that the hockey industry is at the very bottom of the list when if comes to top-paid sports. Yes, they are one of the highest paid hockey teams and it's WELL, WELL deserved, to say the least. NOT comparable to the insanely paid New York Yankees. IS comparable when it comes to talent and athleticism

Using the poor excuse of having money to create an athlete, is a crock of bullshit. It buys homes, cars, elaborate and prestigious work-out machines, and physical therapists. It doesn't give you extending mechanical arms, robocop legs, or a Rambo-like pitch, swing, or goal-stopping puck flying at your fat face from motherfuckin' Brett Hull, who has played for/against/with the BEST ATHELTES in the world.
The WORLD.

Money “cannot” make an athlete .... a motherfuckin' Red Wing OR YANKEE... a better athlete. It'll only support and help in a great capacity, if that.

Listen – there isn't much to analyze – it comes down to this – and it isn't brain surgery here fellow NHL comrades:

The Wings simply skate the fastest, score and stop the most goals, create remarkable defense and offense, board smashers, crazy-quick deflecting, great agility, and impeccable passing ... Moreover, they are the BEST hockey team around.
