Well, just because a band is dead ugly, doesn't neccessarily mean, that their music is any good. I for once got addicted to Be your own Pet before I had any idea what they looked like.
And the pic in question is obviously meant ironic.
But such subtleties are apparently lost on some people.
I mean, we all know that Nirvana became famous because Kurt looked kinda cute. Now you can spend the rest of your life bemoaning the fact, that there are some ugly bands out there, that deserve so much more. But hey, last time Frank Black passed me by, I couldn't help but feel sorry for the guy. No-one likes to see flabby Rock'n'Roll.

This was Moore's answer to keeping his indie cred. Helping out the "indie kids" who just happen to have parents well connected in the music biz.
Every song has the same beat. It's like Yeah Yeah Yeahs but less interesting. Doesn't really deserve the attention from Moore. Maybe he was strong armed into it?
