yeah, definitely get a case for it. this may make your ipod a little clunky, not to mention kinda square, but it'll keep it from getting scratched and when you accidentally drop it on the ground -- which definitely will happen at some point -- you won't feel so gutted. i've got a case for a 20GB model covering my 40GB iPod, and it's really snug. i had my dad enlarge the holes in the top and bottom so as to allow the cords to plug into it without having to remove the case.

I use Sony earbuds, pictured here. (Sorry, EA forum.) As you can see, they too have a right-angle jack. I have never had an issue with the particular case I use.

I've owned 3 different sony headphones before and none of them lasted more than two years. I owned two pairs of their high-quality studio headphones. The problems with these, though they sounded amazing, was that one side would short out after awhile. I've had to send them back to sony to be repaired.

The third was a pair of earbuds. They lasted a little bit longer, but eventually one side shorted out.

Since then I've been using only Sennheisers for studio quality headphones. I'm about to buy a pair of their earbuds.

I've had the same experience with the Sony earbuds. While they don't last too long, they admittedly do take some abuse, and I don't mind shelling out $25 every couplefew years. I haven't had an issue with the low-end studio headphones, thankfully.

Good luck with the Sennheiser ones. FWIW, I thought I saw an advert for Bose earbuds the other day.

What's the difference between lossless and wav/aiff?

Aren't wavs and/or aiffs the raw audio data?

I believe that AIF/WAV are the raw CD data and lossless is still a compressed file, but compressed in a way that doesn't affect the sound. In other words, it compresses parts of the file that are office work and not studio work.

Am i right, anyone?
