I was serious when I said you shouldn't mention that you attended Full Sail. I have known some good guys who came out of there, but I have crossed paths with far more smug little irritants. At this stage, Full Sail has sent out so many "graduates" that every studio has gotten a look at a couple, and it doesn't help your chances to say you're one of them.

If it comes up years later in conversation, you can mention it, but don't tell anyone up front.

well i can't speak for anyone but me....but i would have to say it is an ongoing learning process of HANDS ON trial and error as well as an ongoing "development of ones recording style"

I've never attended one, but I used to receive their newsletters and course schdules all the time.

I'm under the impression that their seminars are primarily aimed at commercial AV installers and integrators, then staging and rental operators that do alot of live sound, and some A/E type consultants that want a better grasp of audio. I wouldn't doubt that the knowledge they impart would have value to a recording engineer, but I don't think that's what it's geared toward. I'm not sure that a recording person would walk away with alot of stuff they could directly apply to what they do.

Their course on designing and tuning installed auditorium/theatrical systems seemed interesting, though. I think they did one on line-arrays too. Hmmm......line-arrays......

Interesting to see the madness has spread across the country. Every person I've ever known who went there now works there (in housing, no less). Unfortunately, I don't think the rep. is gonna change anytime soon judging from the slew of resumes I receive constantly that are almost illegible.

I'm sorry if this is upsetting, but it's true. I would like to know, how is it that people get roped into Full Sail for all that money when there are so many universities with extremely reputable audio programs? Full Sail is a vocational school, for a professional field. Sad.
