what s your headphone?

Just got a new phone cause my old one died... new one has windows mobile, which has windows media player built in. One 2GB memory card later and I have a new MP3 player. So far I've been using the headphones that came with it, which are nice... two earbuds and a mic that hangs on the cord near my left ear for talking on the phone. Sounds pretty good, actually. But... I have a pair of Shure E3's that my fricking cats chewed through the cord in about 4 places. I talked to my dad (who works at Shure) about whether or not he can take the earbuds from those E3's and stick them on the cord that came with my phone (keeping the talky part). He said no problem. So sometime in the near future, I will have awesome E3 earbuds on my phone cord. I will be even happier than I am now, which is quite happy.

E3's are great.

I just repaired the cord on my AKG K240's (which would not work for shit with an MP3 player) and they're back in good working order. At about 14 years old, they're one of my oldest pieces of audio gear that I still use. But man would they suck with an MP3 player. They sucked when I used them with a discman when I first got them back in '92. 600 ohms = impedance problem for portable electronics.

After being a welcome target for premature jocks, meatheads and other idiots because of my large, floppy ears, I had corrective ear surgery at age 14. Since then, my ears have been assymetrical, because my right ear still healed up further away from the skull bone when all bandaged up.

At almost 35, I kind of celebrate this oddity, although ear buds tend to fall out of my right ear. Big deal.
On those rare occasions when I play my iPod other than in my truck, I use old Sony MDR-W08 Walk/DiscMan headphones.

Headphones at home (which I use much more frequently) are Sennheiser HD 212Pro - they're great, although I miss the bass of my old pair of AIWAs. But when you have funny ears, the cushioning has a lot of importance.

Who calls 'em cans again?

I use the ones that came with the iPod. Most of the time I use the ipod while cycling through the city and as its illegal to listen to loud and rowdy music while on a bike, you don't want to draw too much attention to yourself. I mean, no one cares really, but big professional headphones are like asking for it.

I have and like the Sony MDR-7506s, but lately they've been zapping me with static shocks into my ear (!).

My mother-in-law just bought me Sennheiser HD 280s for Christmas. Yeah, she's a very cool mother-in-law.

I also have the Shure E3s, but my ear drums have been very sensitive lately (probably from all the static shocks from the 7506s...) and I'm giving in-ear buds a rest for now.
