I'm also a big fan of my friend Anne Rearick's photographs. She's been shooting the Basques in southern France for over a decade now and has published a book of those pictures. Here's one I bought last year:

I had the extreme pleasure of getting some up close and personal time with his work when ICP mounted a retrospective of his. It's times like those that I really, really love working for the organization.

I really like the work of Bernd and Hilla Becher. Someone gifted me with a book of their stuff after seeing that I photographed a lot of the same things they do (water towers, cement plants) - except they are much better at it.



They also shepherded a lot of other good photogs like Thomas Struth and Candida Höfer.

my parents are really into photography and have, in their day, collected some mighty fine prints. so it comes as a little bit of an embarassment that eventhough i've spent hours looking through various photo books and glossy auction catalogs, i can't name a favorite photographer.

I like a lot of Andreas Gursky's work. Some of it's just fucking boring though. I think his best are the photos with massive field depth where everything is unaturally in perfect focus. I like seeing things in a way my eye could never see.
