i saw that shit.
it's excellent. i thought the DV looked great- i was actually completely floored by the visuals. and the first half of the movie has a lot of stuff that is kind of new ground for lynch. he says he'll never go back to film, and if this is the kind of stuff he'll be making in the years to come it kind of leads me to believe that his career will be looked back on in terms of pre-inland empire and post-inland empire.

and yeah, laura dern straight represented. and the fucking rabbits!

the story kind of follows the template he used w/ lost highway and mulholland drive, where the first half of the movie kind primes you and grounds itself in reality to a degree, then something happens and it's a cluster fuck until the credits roll (greatest credits sequence ever, by the bye). but the 3+hours lets him really stretch out and it's way more detailed and odd than anything i've seen from him before.

best music, too. you guys have to check it out on the big screen when you get a chance.

no shit! secret cameos! dancing girls!

what about that harem of girls throughout the movie? LA party girls, and one dance retune later they are all cracked out walking the streets of hollywood! Then in the polish snow? THAT was one of my favorite things...

now i'm thinking about seeing it one more time before i leave NYC...

i'm probably going to have to wait til this fucking comes out on video...i've been looking forward to it but as it's being self-distributed or whatever it doesn't look like it'll make its way down to memphis, maybe the scheudule will broaded, but i still doubt it'll make it here...at least i got to see Mulholland Dr. in the theater...hrm...a roadtrip for a movie? hrm...

The problem with David Lynch is that he gets too lynchian sometimes....too over the top.
It can become boring and repetitive.
I love Blue Valvet. It's a subtle, beautifully made, multi-layered film.
Since I haven't seen Inland Empire yet I won't judge.

Apart from the Twin Peaks series and Eraserhead David Lynch is a constant stream of crumby, false 'odd but deep' hollywood bullshit.

The amount of people swindled by his shallow crap is unbelievable.
