so the vet and my wife have decided that I am an asshole and I feed the cat too much and I switch cat foods all the time which is bad for some reason. I figure the cat gets sick of the same shit all the time and I buy different cat food every time...this is bad for cats I guess.
The vet actually used the word 'fuck' she and my wife started conspiring against me whilst there...she points at me and says 'he needs to straighten the fuck up or else he'll kill the cat feeding it like that' my wife being very attached to the cat just glares the evil glare at me and I also get an earful followed by the cold shoulder when we leave.
I dont think I feed the cat too much, I feed it when it asks me for some food....granted it asks constantly, but it's been decided that it's my fault the cat is too fat.
So yeah most likely it's your fault and you are an asshole like me.

Cripes. I've noticed that almost every poster on this thread has referred to that cat as "one fat fucker" or some variant. Seems like some kind of repression that has been released, like opening a shaken up cola can.

Get the poor kitty to a vet asap. Also, there are some very good weight control formula foods (Iams comes to mind). Cats typically sleep 16-18 hours a day even when they're young. A 10 year old cat will be noticably less active. If you are free-feeding her, try to wean her off that. Boredom is another cause for overeating. Good luck, I hope she isn't sick.

Yeah, I know, this one is getting to be almost as funny as that other thread!

I always feed my kitty different kinds of food too. Surely they must get sick of that same old shit?

I don't recommend feeding your cats IAMS. We used to, and our mature (7 at the time) cat got fat, and also sick.

Apparently, they use a lot of fillers and bad shit, and still claim to be some kind of better food. It is no better than any other cheap-o supermarket pet food, and yet it costs way more. We thought we were going that extra mile to make sure our kitty was healthy. All we were doin was throwin money out and makin it worse.

There's several kinds of food that are in the range of IAMS price-wise and are way better. One that comes to mind that is really good is Wellness brand - they make a line for sedentary/older cats. One of several good brands. But you gotta go to a pet store or vet to get the good shit. Or look for cheaper prices online.

Even though IAMS is pricey, even the pet store employees and vets recommend you buy something else, even cheap-o if necessary. It is (apparently) that bad.

I am maybe going on too long with this, but pet food and shitty pet health are on my mind lately. Our male cat has developed chronic cystitis, and we just discovered it was being exacerbated by a grocery-store brand (Castor and Pollux). So you gotta watch out for high PH and ash content too - especially for male cats.

I was feeding my girls Science Diet for a while and they seemed to respond well to it. I say "was" because I have three, and you start getting into real money at that point.

I see you're from my neck of the woods--hello!
