We were called Crazy Dawg and we slammed on some serious Black Crows, Poison, Tom Petty, Chuck Berry, BTO, Zeppelin, Bon Jovi, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and even "Smells Like Teen Spirit" when it broke huge our senior year.

This explains the 7.5 Pitchfork rating.

*smirk* My favorite part of that review is how i'm pretty sure the reviewer never wrote anything else for Pitchfork ever again. I like to think his taste was called into serious question and was promptly canned when he gave us such a higher-than-deserved score.

My first band was called Mustachio, and we put out this 7":

I drew the cover. We thought we were "funny" - the 7" had songs called "Beware the Cook" and "Appliances Revolt", the former which had a dual-vocal only breakdown for approx 30 seconds, and the latter which had three "movements", and ended in some kind of surf-rock riffage.

The 7" was recorded the day after Frank Sinatra died. I'd been playing drums just 3 months shy of 2 years at that point.

We played about 25 live shows around town, never toured, and never (thankfully, in hindsight) sold many copies of the 7".

I've noticed a trend with their reviews: if a record receives between an 8.5 and a 10, I'll probably hate it. If a record receives between a 6.5 and an 8.4, it's probably really good.
