So, does anyone have any experience with reattaching the ground wire to the bridge? Do I have to pull out the cylinder that the bridge inserts into?

It's the switch. I'm sure of it. Just rip it out and schlap a new one in. You can do it yourself very easily.

Swap the pickup wiring on the switch. If your noise stays in the same switch position, you know it's not the pickups, and probably the switch (you've eliminated anything downstream of the switch at least)
