YOUR FIRST CAR!!

Mine was a '69 camaro i bought for $600 in 1983. I restored it myself for very little money at a body shop my dad worked at. I sold it 4 years later for about 5 grand. If I still had it today it would be worth about 30 grand. I was totally into hot rods in my teen years. You could build them quite cheaply back then.
Mine looked almost exactly like this when I bought it

this one looks almost exactly like mine when I finished it except I did my stripes in gold instead of white

1983 Chevy Cavalier, all white. Total piece of shit.

It was only five years old when I started driving. I got rear ended at 5 mph and the entire bumper fell off. Also the POS had weird wiring problems- lights wouldn't work, the cruise control would flake out, the AC would blow hot air, etc..

That gives me hope and allows me to feel a little less ridiculous for not being able to drive yet. It never bothered me in London but out here in the wastelands it would be very useful, especially as my girlfriend is pregnant and we're having to rely on public transport, lifts or our feet.

I've been fetishizing the 'new' VW Beetles since they came out; I was thinking maybe they'll have been out long enough by the time I'm driving for me to get one relatively cheap second hand.
