You should acid etch the "graphics" on to the hammond box, then paint the whole thing, and sand the paint off, leaving the paint that's in the "graphics" there, since it's below the surface level of the part of the box that didn't get etched.

You could use it either way. if you use it before the GK preamp it would be more like a gain effect of a distortion box or a clean EQ. if you plug it into the Preamp in of your amp you would be using the TS-Pre in place of the GK preamp.
