The Marshall Guv'nor is very good for bass overdrive. It has a good eq section too, so you don't lose too many lows.

yeah the bass player in my band uses one (as do I on guitar) fantastic pedals. very versatile within their limits (if that makes sense).

I use the Boss's Blues Driver, it sounds a bit Unsaneish.

It sounds very good with my G&L.

i just started two weeks ago with distortion in the bass (in some of the bands where i´m playing the ex-bassist played with distortion and chords). i tried my SD-1 super overdrive to good effect, but i also have a DS-1. never knew that it might work ok. will try it today.

Also, Fulltone Bass Drive is pretty bad ass. Or an Electro Harmonix Black Finger Compressor for overdriven tube distortion, sounds nice and beefy with a juicy crunch.

The Mammoth is amazing.

Has anyone compared the Black Cat Bass Octave to that Maekko thing? I had the Black Cat, and it was kind of cool. I don't really miss it, though.
