where the fuck is Astoria?

Many of the native Astorians have Norwegian blood as a result of the large number of Norwegian immigrants to Astoria 150 years ago. The primary industry of Astoria then, as it is now, is fishing.
According to Stewart Holbrook, a little over a hundred years ago some Norwegian fishermen caught half a dozen human corpses in their nets after their bodies had been thrown overboard by a passing ship. Apparently, a famous crimper in Portland named Joseph "Bunco" Kelly had shanghaied these men, selling them to a captain in need of crew who was to depart Portland very early the next day. Kelly had found them passed-out in a storage basement near a waterfront saloon. Thinking they were stealing liquor, these men poisoned themselves drinking formaldehyde which belonged to a near-by mortuary.

This doesn't really make Astoria an interesting town to visit, but if Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3: The Secret of the Ooze is your thing, you can rest easy knowing that too, was shot there.

Imagine.

Queens is not a fucking suburb, it's one of the boroughs.

There's five of 'em.

Astoria is a neighborhood in Queens. There's an airport there too.

NYC visitors-

You have not visited NYC properly until you have eaten in Queens. Astoria has some serious shit.

I lived in Astoria for four years and I loved every minute of it. Queens kicks much ass.

Part 2 was was the ooze. Part three was when they went to ancient Japan. I think that Astoria substituting feudal Japan is way more impressive than Vanilla Ice and his "Turtle Rap".

I am delighted that my "JAPAN - COUNTRYSIDE - EXT" fix is a short drive away! Not just the Japan of the 17th century, but Japan as featured in Ringu 2 (via Ring 2)...

"Come to Astoria, Oregon's Norwegian Japan"

Well that is your just opinion my friend. I think that most people would agree with me in stating that Vanilla Ice and his landmark "Turtle Rap" made this into the cinematic treasure that we all adore.
