mayonnaise imposter: Miracle Whip

i used to love the stuff. it tasted like gelatinated italian dressing to me, which for some reason goes well with cheddar cheese. mayonnaise makes me gag. it tastes and smells spoiled, so matter how fresh it is.

i never actually used it as a "salad dressing" though, that sounds awful.

oh, i have to say that my favorite (as far as taste, not even pretense) of mayonnaise, pretend and real, is vegannaise (not nayonaise, just vegannaise)... holy crap, so good. pricey, but very tasty

being a vegan, i wish i could agree with you, but i think that stuff tastes like chalk. it's ok mixed with other stuff, like dijon mustard or tartar sauce ingredients, but still.. no thanks.

actually, i may be thinking of Nayonnaise, can't remember..

I like hellmanns. It's good on subs, but with reason. I wouldn't eat potato salad made with miracle whip.

if you like fish; try this easy tartar sauce recipe, mayo, yellow mustard, chopped up pickles, and sugar.

I know a kick ass creamy garlic recipe too that is amazing on chicken sandwiches. I don't have it on hand, but it's basically, mayo, sugar, salt, granulated garlic, white pepper, a little white vinegar, a little lemon juice, and minced garlic. you pulsate it all after it's mixed so it stays a bit thick, and doesn't get to thin.

When the mental image of eating a bologna sandwich with either mayonnaise or Miracle Whip entered my mind, another image, that of scraping a days-dead squirrel from a dirty street, cooking it on a stick over a cow dung campfire, and eating the cooked squirrel without using my hands, immediately took its place.

I lean toward the squirrel scenario.
