search the internet on tips for setting up a turntable. or ask us.

...well since you offered,

The thoroughly annoying man I bought the record player from did not and will not send me the correct bolts to attach the cartridge. As a result I had to find some tiny bolts lying around the house to attach the cartridge. Problem is that now if I try to play thinner records/ever so slightly warped records the outer track skips and I can see the needle lifting off the record.

I have the correct settings on the tonearm (1 gram tracking force, its an ortofon cart so I looked up their website), and I've aligned the cartridge to the exact specifications of a vinylengine.com alignment protractor.

Is it the non-original bolts screwing up the tonearm, or am I missing something?

hey disinhibited,

try searching the word "turntable", and limit it to just "Tech Room" in the pull down window. there's only 50 or so threads, and many of them have awesome bits of advice.

you can do that in gen disc, too, but there's a lot more threads that show up.

oh, yeah, try searching the entire forum for "rega". it's not a common word, and it pulls up maybe 30 or so good threads.

g'luck! and congrats on the new player.
