New York kitsch by way of Baltimore slums. I want to say this guy gives Baltimore a bad name but listening to the song "Wham City" it is not actually all so bad. His live shows are apparently really something, too.
Dan Deacon, I cannot justifiably call you crap. But WATCH IT.

Alexis Gideon is freinds with Dan. They toured together over the winter. I like Dan, and I think he's a nice guy, and his last show here at The Reversible Eye was kind of fun, but I have no idea how or why he's blown up so much recently...

Whether he is a nice guy or not, CRAP. People who don't know jack about music make him what he is, an underground "phenomenon" that should be kept chained to a Billyburg basement but manages to goddamn get all over the place.

CRAP.
In September a friend of mine took me to a Girl Talk concert which Dan Deacon opened up for. I thought Dan Deacon and Girl Talk were total crap. As a Baltimore native I think it sucks that Dan Deacon is getting a ton of attention when really good bands from Baltimore (New Flesh, Perestroika, Yukon, Ponytail) are being overlooked, but that is life!
