this movie has "and the earth died screaming in it."
"fight club" has "goin' out west" in it.
it's a tom waits/brad pitt conspiracy.
not crap, though. reminds me of a philip k. dick story.

Can somebody please sell me on this film?
I've seen it a bunch of times, and I definitely wouldn't give it a Crap rating here, but if you hold it up next to other Gilliam films, especially Brazil, it doesn't come off seeming like one of his real triumphs.
Also, what is this about 12 Monkeys somehow being extra-weird? I don't see it as being outside the realm of regular science fiction, especially if you happen to be a Vonnegut reader.

The ending doesn't make sense. Watching it over and over when I was younger, I always felt like I was going to figure it out, but never did. I would love to hear someone else explanation of what happens at the end of this film.
Not Crap.

if i recall, the ending indeed doesn't make sense. what the ending does is show you how fucked up time travel COULD be. it's been a while but i think bruce willis's character is dying and watching himself die, and watching himself watching himself die, for eternity. that sequence of events will happen every 30-40 or so years for eternity, meaning that time, for those people is "stuck" in that circle.
that's some fucked up shit.
