Running Man, the baseball bat boxing ring match in Escape from New York, the Thuderdome in Mad Max 3:
all provide important clues about what we as human beings really want to see in sports.
Clues which the entertainment industry has markedly failed to pick up on.
And don't talk to me about American Gladiator.
The weapons need to be real. And preferably bladed.

I'm about to watch this again for the first time since the early 1990s.
In case you forgot, the intro text reads something like this:
The year is 2017. The world economy has collapsed. TV is run by The State. No dissent is tolerated. Etc. Etc.
Should be interesting.
