Ah! The chart show! I remember seeing Pavement on there in 1995, it blew my teenage mind.

I can remember watching the video for 'Tilted' by Sugar on the Chart Show and thinking that i'd like to check out some of that there indie music.

Went and bought Beaster on cassette from Woolworths and never looked back...

Oh God, I still get a little tingle of excitement when I hear the intro music to the indie chart, not to mention the white-knuckle thrill that comes with guessing which track(s) they'll play in full.

I'm pretty certain that during the first series (year, or whatever) each week's specialist chart was allocated 25% of the total programming time, but soon it dwindled to maybe 10%, or maybe just the indie chart's allocation dwindled...

Brilliant stuff, mostly for reasons of nostalgia.

I can remember it being the first place I saw Ned's Atomic Dustbin, performing their well-known composition "Kill Your Television".

I will admit I found it quite exciting at the time.

This was my favourite song for at least three months around my 13th birthday.

It would be so great to have a music show back on again (a mixture of Snub, the Tube, Whistle Test, Oxford Road Show / Riverside etc), that wasn't Jools fucking roll out the barrel honky tonk Holland, wouldn't it...

I suspect however that the people that commission them can't work out how to incorporate downloads, twatty fringes / skinny black jeans and Facebook into it. So they won't do it.
