I have an overwhelming urge to put one of these in a kick drum.

Expensive experiment. Let us know how it works out for you.

I have a Naked Eye but I really haven't gotten much of an opportunity to use it yet. Currently tracking stuff for my band so that should change though. I'm excited to try it on guitars.

Our mic locker has one of each ("Classic" and "Roswellite"). We use 'em as a mismatched-stereo pair on our B3/122 frequently, and the Roswellite version is one of the coolest snare drum mics I've come across (null aimed at hihat and kick drum/rack tom). Bites and holds at 5kHz like a pitbull. Great mic for bringing back some power/lo-mid that meh-tul dudes universally scoop out of their amplifiers and meh-tul-zone's.

If you do, don't forget to flip the polarity on one. The rear is 180 degrees out, of course!

I have a C&T Naked Eye. It gets used one every session I do. Usually guitar amps and vocals. Highly recommended!

Ben,

Thanks for posting the comparisons.

Has anyone tried building the Rickshaw ribbon mic? I thought about giving it a go, but it looks like an unbelievable pain in the ass.

For a cheapie, has anyone tried the Cascade stuff?

I'm almost done building the rickshaw mic. I've been having a really really hard time cutting the ribbon foil properly. Other then that I have the motor built and the tranny.

It's not as easy as I thought it would be.

Hey, etch-
I have a pair of the Fat Heads and I love them. I got them too close to a Mesa and a kick drum, respectively, and blew them up.

I have sent them back to Cascade to get them re-ribboned.

I love the Fat Heads for room mics. I've heard they make great overheads, too, but to have four of them in a room, each with 180ยบ in the polar pattern, you're asking to have phase issues, I would think.

Of course, feel free to correct me if I am wrong, wiser men.
