Something about finding a consistent supply of non bitchy specimens. I can't remember if I read that on their website or in a Tape Op review/his interview.

What is the deal with the Distressor? It seems extraordinarily expensive. Would a person with basic knowlege of compressor use and function be able to get something special out of it, or is it just for extremely demanding recording situations?

The distressor is like a dbx 160x on meth. Very handy, and intuitive.

Probably the Crane Song STC-8, tho I think it's best suited for my rather specific task (mastering). That said, I am having trouble imagine getting by without my other two as options (API 2500 and Requisite L2M mk. III).

Neither of those words are things that I would associate with someone or something being on meth.
