Erni Ball's Super Slinkys in the pink pack, .009 - .42. --The same strings I've pretty much always used since 1985.

On bass I use big ones, like a .115 I think. Whatever the biggest E string GHS makes is.

I'm sure its bullshit, but I feel like I have more dynamic range available with bigger strings.

I have a hard picking hand so I've found that heavier gauges tend to "flab out" on me less. I also sense more clarity and power in the lower registers.

On guitar I vary according to scale length. .013 on LP, .012 on L6s, .011 on Telecaster. For me, a 25" scale length and .012's are the business.

On bass, no brainer for me .115. Always. (FWIW, I have never played a short-scale bass. I have 2 P's and a G&L)

Don't get me started on the many arguments I've had at Retard Center re:.013's and .115's actually EXISTING. Buncha dicklockers.

11s or 12s, sometimes 10s.

I think my strat has DR tite fit 12s, maybe 11s right now though. My les paul special has 11s.

For baritone, I get the d'addario 68-14s or whatever.

10-56, because I like the low strings to have a tad more oomph than the high ones. 11-56 for DADGAD. Any other tunings get ad-hoc single strings, but I try to keep the tension in the 10-11 set range.

I use 11's power slinkys... becuase I got a shit load for free.

Then a guy at my local store gave me 4 sets of Rotosound 11's "because nobody ever asks for them" and they're really really great.

The power slinkys are not so good. As soon as finish with them I won't use them again.

Are the Rotosounds brighter/zingier than the Slinkies by any chance?

Bluegrass style: 12-56. Mainly an acoustic player, wish they made these for electrics.
