Yes, I like both bands, but MBV is the winner.

Did anybody here see MBV live during the Loveless tour? There's no contest.

MBV was nauseatingly loud. The warped sound present on their albums was even more extreme live. I hated it for making me physically ill until the last few songs and then it suddenly made sense. They were very unique. And LOUDER than IRON MAIDEN was to boot!

Let's just say I experienced music-induced diarrhea that night. Groundbreaking colonblast.

Polvo was kind of boring the one time I saw them play, with Das Damen. I remember more about their guitars than the show.

MBV, the songs are pretty bland on the whole but the sound is fucking amazing. It's when they stop trying to make songs that they really become unlike anything else, like Glider or To Here Knows When. They are barely songs, everything hinges on the texture and about one key change. I can completely understand (as a type designer) why it takes for fucking ever for them to create anything - tiny alterations over time have a huge impact on the feel of the overall thing.

Polvo's structures however seem pretty interesting, like bits of several other songs that didn't work out, pieced back together. Mostly the repiecing doesn't work either, but sometimes by chance it does! The music seems deliberately badly played, where just playing it normally, or even well, would reveal more about the song. I wish I could be bothered listening more to them but with a 1 in 8 result ratio it just seems like too much work. It seems like Polvo don't know what works themselves and release everything, unless I really am missing something fom the crap ones.
