What is this, 'Attack of the Killer Emoticons'?

I don't know if "fun" would be the correct word for my LSD experiences.
Definitely strange and sometimes funny but "fun" is something else (to me, anyway).
I spent my 18th birthday on acid and purely by bad, 18-yr-old planning I had to attend my own birthday party at my house with my parents singing to me, giving me gifts, etc. It was definitely towards the come-down of the trip but the experience was sad, ridiculous, terrifying, joyful and confusing all at the same time.
I didn't like seeing my parents that way. Still kinda gives me the creeps.
I can honestly say, though, that drug use for me anyway lead to better grades in school. Sounds strange but the people I hung out with "b.d." (before drugs) were idiots who didn't have any interest in school. I followed suit until I started hanging out with other people who also happened to take a fair share of acid. Not hippies but we did buy it from them.
I have very little interest in ever taking acid again.

Was never good. I'm an idiot for trying it so many times. The best of these was when I did it with a group on a choir field trip. Singing hymns in front of 1,000 people tripping. Fuck that.
Crap.

Totally not crap.
I don't really trust anyone who's never done acid ever. You have to try it at least once to really know what's up with this whole life thing, in general.
I can't imagine getting back into drugs again but acid was usually a hoot and a half, terrifying and horrible a few times but usually wonderful.
I was obsessed with making mix cd's to listen to on acid for years, I have several 8 disc sets I made to listen to in order whilst tripping. I was completely consumed by this for years, I would work on them night and day trying to make the perfect acid listening experience. I got pretty close I think.
Nowadays I don't partake in the psychedelics but I really do enjoy being the sober one in a house full of people tripping their brains out. It's fun to guide the evening with music and conversation and whatnot.

i agree.
and i hate hippies and hanging out with hippies...but i love what lsd did for me in my twenties. i think maybe more than once is required...
i will never do it again because there is no need to....

I had many, many incredible (in the genuine sense of the word) times on acid. After the last time I took it (about ten years ago) it occurred to me that acid and I should probably part on good terms, and I've not even been vaguely tempted since.
A great drug, although obviously not without it's dangers.
NOT CRAP.

3 for the people who have had a bad time with it, and those poor bastards in the military who got royally fucked in the name of science.
*edit*
I just remembered a story I was told by a lecturer while I was studying sociobiology.
When scientists started serious investigations into the power of acid, they settled for a while on cats to test it on. Some bright spark suggested that they should try it out on an elephant, and so they did. They based the dosage on body (rather than brain) mass, and accordingly scaled up the dosage for the elephant.
When the acid kicked in, the elephant shat and then died.
I have added another

for the elephant.
