The Ethics Of The Coffee-Maker Drip Interrupt Valve

Here's why it's good:

When the pot is almost done, but it's still doing the coffee pot equivalent of the urinal "shake," without the valve, you would have to wait, or it would drip all over the place.

The valve prevents that.

And, if you gotta get your cup and run out the door, poaching a cup, mid flow, is better than nothing.

The valve can be used to enhance the taste of drip coffee. If you've got the time to stand around watching the coffee maker while it's brewing, try making a pot by doing the following...

Turn the machine on but remove the pot. When the water is just about to overflow then put the pot in and drain it. Repeat this process until all the water has passed through the grounds.

The valve also makes it possible to take the pot of coffee, open up the top, and pour some of that through the grounds once, kind of like double distilling. I have done this a few times, but not noticed much of a difference.

Using this method, I have been able to make some really good cups of coffee in a drip machine.

it should only exist as a safety feature.
The earlier in the brew cycle the stronger, the later..the weaker. Coffee is done brewing when it is DONE BREWING. Do Not fuck with it...or you are fucking with me.

troglodyte.

but really, along that notion of thought,
When the pot is almost done, but it's still doing the coffee pot equivalent of the urinal "shake," without the valve, you would have to wait, or it would drip all over the place.

this really is the most rational reason.

and i would see a band called urinal shake, but never buy a beverage that goes by the same name.
