I realize it's easy to hear "pop-punk" and think immediately of Blink 182. But there are a lot of great songs by great bands that could fall under this classification.

If I were the official in a "nominate the best pop-punk song ever" contest, I would not disqualify votes for "Waiting Room", for example. Pop chorus. Popular as all get-out, in the non-mainstream music world (which is a fine place for "punk" folk). Made em famous enough.

Actually, this was pretty much what I was thinking of. I would consider at least a few songs by Descendents/ALL, Green Day, Propaghandi, NoMeansNo (listen to "Dad"), the aforementioned Jawbreaker, etc., to full under the unbrella.

Add "Celebrated Summer" to the list.

I knew I could count on you, Choppy.

Unless we're talking about Blink 182 (185?)... But we aren't, obviously, as there is nothing to talk about.

Me, I likes "Myage," sure. Runner-up's "Math" by Supernova.

Yeah this turned into Retard Central quick. You would almost think we were talking about a specific hip hop artist in c/nc by the dismissiveness of some of these posts. Yes we all know about the icky, terrible shopping mall, Hot Topic ready pop punk bands like Sum 41, Simple Plan, Good Charlotte, Fall Out Boy and even lots of uncreative cookie cutter bands on Fat Wreck and Epitaph over the years. However there is a significant flipside to that coin embodied by bands like Dillinger Four, Toys That Kill, The Methadones, Ergs, Chinese Telephones, Off With Their Heads, The Arrivals and shit like that. Also well covered in Razorcake Magazine and a Florida family reunion every year in Gainesville called The Fest. I am a big fan of that scene. Catchy, fun and well written songs by folks with integrity doing it for the right reasons.

Anyway to the subject of the thread I agree you just can't beat the Descendents or underrate their influence. The entire Mile Goes To College album is their peak as far as I am concerned. For a specific song I can't choose between Hope and Bikeage however.
