I get a feeling that you are going to find those photos of hammond tranies on line somewhere. All you have to do is do a google image search with "hammond tranies" . I am sure somehing will pop up from Indiana.

In other words you think these are stock photos and not actual photos of the actual item?

Your probably right.

What's weird is that these scamers pick such an esoteric and oddball vintage piece of gear. These are not that collectable yet. But maybe they've learned that the lower ticket items are more "sellable" and so they stay away from the U47's and Neve's.

Weird

I figure that they have become to well known to folks blowing a couple of thousand bucks to have their guard up.

I worked at a animation house that did their feature animation music recording in Romainia. For 30 grand you get a beautiful old radio hall recording studio a full orchestra, condunctor the recording done in a nice studio attached to the radio theater and you own all the performance and rights to the recording outright. No royalties or anything.

Inquire that you will be in chicago and figure you can just pick it up in person now or when he is back from Romania so he can save on shipping. In fact you would be glad to buy him some flalafal and hummos at Kerma's cause you always come to to Chicago to see the "Tigers" play baseball (he should have a reaction if he is a chicagoan).

Update: Today I got a proper email from a guy with a different email address thru ebay with an ebay invoice for the auction. Nothing about Romainia or Moneygram. I sent him a reply saying that I'd be in Chicago tomorrow and can I come pick up the modules.

Have not heard back from him.

Is it possible that someone hacked his auction?

Also I checked this guys feedback and he has sold these modules before and has good feedback for the last pair he sold. Although he does only have a feedback rating of 15.

I'd say that's fairly certain...

OR they were able to gather enough information from the auction to fake an invoice to you.

It's just html programming.

I could email you a pretty reasonable facsimile of an eBay invoice if I knew your user name and saw that you'd won an auction.

You should mention this to the seller, tell him to change his password PRONTO.

Turn the email over to ebay.
