the loser thing slipped. although, i do think of bands as losers that continually put out the same record over and over again. and, even more so when people do it from band to band to band. port bow! stearn and starboard! sheesh.

"quiet victories" made me sad.

"Quiet Victories" and many of their other songs make me sad every time I hear them, but sad in a good way, you know. They make some of the saddest and most beautiful music I've ever heard. I can't really point my finger on it, but there's something about their stuff that really gets me.

i diverge with the angry dragon on the issue of boat rock... to me, 'boat is beautiful...' i mean, of course that june of 44 number has a high pretense factor, but it's that same pretense that allows them to get to the musical heights they do...

must say, tho... i think that shipping news is better than rodan and jo44. also, i think the addition of todd cook is very exciting.

I have never heard the term "boat rock." Does it have something to do with the swaying, undulating feel of the music, or because of certain influential themes that pertained to the sea?

Please do explain this "boat rock" term to me.

hell with todd cook! what would be exciting is to see john cook added to the mix along with a bag of crack cocaine and some knives...

how can you dump on a pirate theme?

Argh, Good Morning, Captain! Have ye got the Shipping News from the scags in the scullery? We been at sea fer 90 Days, Men, yar, since the June of 44! And when the Engine Takes to the Water ye'll see soon enough we'll be about the Four Great Points, crost Tropics and Meridians, whaling or nettin' Fish, 6 or 7 at a time, analyzin' the Anatomy of Sharks and all!

Ah, I see. But these bands, they appear to me to be good bands, and I'd go to see them play on the poopdeck of a Galleon, methinks.
