Thats hot. I use to have a 71 p bass. I miss it.

So it looks like there's white paint in the cavites is painted over the very shiny original Natural color. the white is Flaking off in the control cavity. In the the Pickup route there is very little white paint left and it's very glossy. it seems to be glossy UNDER the white paint flecks

Let me know what you guys think:

Me thinks it was originally natural clear, then painted white, then sanded off and a clear coat reapplied. I bet you do too.

Are those finish cracks or is that really the grain of the wood?

This is a bicentenial bass most definately mid 1976ish not earlier. It has the serial number on the head stock 76 are the first two numbers. The pick up also has 76 first on the serial number. The decal system did not come in till mid 76 and the 76 id went to mid 77 before that the serial number was on the chrome neck plate.

That said this looks like a fine specimen. I love the blonde necks during this period and if you want it stock it looks very stock (personaly the fender bridges are not very good compared to a bad ass and p-bass pickups are not my thing). The finish looks like a standard one at the time.

I have a earlier 70's pbass it has served me well for a long time (taken awful abuse), and is a joy to play. The $1,000 price sounds like a bargan to me. The 70's basses and guitars have passed the 30 year mark which usally makes the value go up.

How are the fretts?

frets are good... I'll take a closer look and post tonight.

Please note the finish is not glossy anymore... it's a bit worn or Matte. But the finish is there... I just can't tell if it's original.

Also, the bass will come with a full set-up.
